ABOUT ME

My name is Lucy Zhang and I am going into my senior year at the Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Canada.

Welcome to my website, where I document all my activities and hobbies in one place! Some might say I am pursuing too many interests, but I believe in letting my creativity roam free and exploring everything to my heart’s content. I am a student, an athlete, an artist of all mediums, and a lover of animals and the environment. I have dreams of becoming a US Supreme Court Lawyer, a member of the United Nations General Assembly, a documentary film director, an architectural designer, and the less likely world-famous painter.

My life is constantly on the go, which makes me appreciate the quiet moments I have every so often. On a rainy day, I find myself buried in the pages of my favourite book, Outliers, or writing music by the piano in my living room. When switching to the role of an athlete, I immerse myself within my sport of Show Jumping and further enhance my athletic abilities by consistently going to the gym. Since December of 2022, I’ve had the honour of being named onto Ontario’s Great Rider Intensive Training Team (Team GRIT), where I’ve had the pleasure of working with an erudite team of coaches and top-of-the-sport professionals alongside aspiring athletes who share commensurate values as myself.

However, excelling in school has always been my number one priority. I love the daily routine of being a student and being part of my school community. I hold a mid-ninety-grade average and am on the path to receiving my AP Capstone. To familiarize myself with the protocols of Court, I participate in my school’s Mock Trial Team where we compete against other schools in provincial tournaments hosted by the Ontario Justice Education Network. Additionally, I value the aspects that come with volunteering. Since receiving my Silver Service Learning Recognition Pin (100+ volunteer hours), I have continued to participate in fundraisers and other philanthropic events in my community, recently, raising over $7000 with my Cancer Relay for Life team contributing to the overall $300,000 amount raised by the Toronto COSSOT schools for the Canadian Cancer Society. Since May of 2022, I have been making weekly social media posts for the federally recognized youth-led non-profit Canadian branch of the Youth Climate Action Team. Lastly, as a way to give back to the sport I love most, I volunteer as a member of the Ontario Hunter Jumper Association Team of Junior Ambassadors where we organize events during competitions that bring together the equestrian community and promote the sport to upcoming young athletes.

Finally, art has played a fundamental role in my line of reasoning that challenges me to take a creative approach when problem-solving. This is because I strongly believe art brings everyone together. After all, there is a form of art for everyone out there that can connect with. I love painting, drawing, sculpting and fashion designing. Ever since my first project where I was given the task to edit a play for French class back in the 5th grade, I have been obsessed with developing my skills through a variety of editing programs ever since such as Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Video Star, CapCut, Lightroom and more. Furthermore, having played the piano for over 11 years, I have utilized my skills to write, record and produce music through programs such as Logic Pro and Garageband.

In conclusion, I do indeed pursue my wide range of interests as much as my time allows me to. I really do love everything, and that's what makes me happy.
